Talk:Cubs 1969 Season-Game 141
From Sports Library
As Stargell came up to the plate, little Forklift (about to turn 7, barely a Tonka Forklift at that age), said to his dad, "Stargell's going to hit a home run. He always hits home runs." Dad said, "The way the wind's blowing in, Babe Ruth couldn't hit one out today."
As we all know, the ball was launched onto Sheffield. As Stargell was circling the bases in a silent ballpark, some guy sitting in the row behind us leaned forward and said to my dad, "Bet you wish Babe Ruth was playing today."
