Al Yellon
From Sports Library
Al Yellon is a blogger who covers the Chicago Cubs. His blog, Bleed Cubbie Blue generally has an optimistic tone.
Yellon attends nearly every home game and sits in the left-field bleachers. He catalogs the Cubs' record in games he attends and with which hats he wears.
His optimistic tone has endeared to many fans who want to believe the franchise is just about to reverse its fortunes, but has attracted criticism from less-optimistic bloggers who feel that such optimism is unwarranted and undeserved. He has developed rivalries with a few other bloggers like Chuck Gitles of Ivy Chat and Andy Dolan of Desipio.
Originally, Yellon had a blog titled And Another Thing... which would touch on other subjects. In 2005, he joined the SBNation, a group of sports blogs with blogs in many sports, and began his current blog titled Bleed Cubbie Blue.
Among Bleed Cubbie Blue's features has been a countdown of the 100 Greatest Players in Chicago Cubs History, an ambitious project that earned him praise for its thoroughness and criticism for some of his choices.
Yellon also is a television director for the ABC station in Chicago, WLS-TV.
